Abstract
A retrospective study investigated safety and efficacy of mitomycin C in 40 eyes undergoing primary non-high-risk trabeculectomy vs postoperative subconjunctival 5-fluorouracil injections in prior trabeculectomy in 13 contralateral eyes of the same patients. Mitomycin C was associated with a higher success rate (intraocular pressure control <21 mm Hg) and lower complication rate compared with 5-fluorouracil over a 6-month follow-up. The difference, however, was not statistically significant.
