Abstract

The paper presents an overview of main results achieved in the field of shallow water acoustics in Russia. The results may be divided into two groups. The first represents development of the novel physical equipment for acoustic probing. The second group is associated with the experimental and theoretical research of sound propagation and scattering on oceanic shelf in the presence of regular and random inhomogeneities of different nature.
