Abstract
המאמר עוסק ביחסי הגומלין בין המשפט הישראלי לבין מעמדה של הערבית בישראל. התבוננות כוללת מבט על העבר ועל ההתפתחויות בהווה; וכן ניסיון לאמוד את יכולתו של המיעוט לעשות שימוש במשפט כדי לשנות את מעמדה של שפתו בעתיד. המתודולוגיה היא בחלקה השוואתית - דוגמת המפתח היא קנדה והמיעוט דובר הצרפתית בה; ואולם מצטרף לכך דיון מושגי בסוגיהן של מדינות שסועות ובקטגוריזציה של זכויות, בעיקר של זכויות קיבוציות
