Abstract
The article discusses the bio-bibliographical book Shem ha-gedolim written by Hida (Hayyim Joseph David Azulai), and its later editing by Isaac Benjacob. The article attempts to address the changes that Benjacob introduced in his edition in contrast to the editions published by Hida, while taking into account the differences between the cultural fields of the author and the editor, which stood at the core of the differences between the editions.
