Abstract

The early Iron Age I site on Mount Ebal was excavated by Adam Zertal from 1982 to1989. He suggested that it was the setting of the ceremonies ordered in Deut. 27:1–10and Jos. 8:30–35 as performed by the early Israelites. As yet, neither the full report ofthe excavation nor any data on the flint assemblage from the site has been published. The new data presented here sheds light on some of the important economic and culturalaspects of this much-discussed site.
