This pilot study investigates the burden of caregiving to elderly cancer sufferers as perceived by the patients and their spouses. The study included 32 cancer patients aged 65+ in treatment at an oncological medical center in northern Israel. A statistically significant difference was found between patients’ and spouses’ grading of the burden. The.spouses perceived the burden of caregiving as heavier than did the patients. No difference was found between male and female caregivers in their perceptions of the burden.
