Abstract
This entry provides a brief overview of current and recurrent issues in test anxiety theory, research, measurement, and clinical parameters. First, it provides a social backdrop for test anxiety research and presents several useful conceptualizations and distinctions, delineating key facets and components of test anxiety. Next, measurement and assessment issues focusing on self-report and alternative assessments are presented. Then, the anxiety-performance nexus is explicated and intervention programs for test anxious persons described. The entry concludes by highlighting areas of needed research.
