Abstract
The article focuses on historical and current perspectives on dispute system design (DSD) and identifies areas in which information technologies can facilitate and enhance the process. It provides an overview of an experience with online dispute resolution (ODR). It discusses several examples of ODR that were concerned only with the effectiveness of a discrete tool. It also illustrates a disputant's information management process.
