Abstract

A cytologic hybridization of H3 complementary RNA synthesized from DNA of template of D. virilis with the polytene chromosomes of D. virilis and of the hybrids between D. virilis and D. texana, was carried out in situ. The uridine lable of RNA was shown to be located mainly over the discs of the polytene chromosomes, the silver grains in interspecies hybrids being located over both homologous chromosomes including the sites with impaired conjugation.
