Abstract

Treatment of Z-vinyl carbamates with dicyclopentadienyl(diethyl)zirconium [Et₂ZrCp₂] leads to cyclobutyl-zirconocene derivatives in good yields and as a unique diastereoisomer. The reaction proceeds through a carbometalative ring-expansion followed by an intramolecular migratory insertion.
