Abstract

In this article the authors introduce Israeli occupational therapists (OTs) to a new intervention tool, Sensory Stories. This instrument strives to improve participation for children with sensory overresponsivity, a form of sensory modulation dysfunction (SMD). A review of the theoretical background to the development of Sensory Stories and a description of the tool are followed by a case study of intervention with a child with sensory overresponsivity. In addition, the initial studies of the effectiveness of Sensory Stories, the translation process from English to Hebrew and the adaptation of the stories for use with Israeli children are discussed.
