Abstract

In this chapter we first describe the role of self-regulation in reading comprehension. Next we review domain-specific self-regulation learning (SRL) literature on reading self-perception and self-evaluations of reading. Finally, we present strategies to enhance SRL during reading comprehension and describe a reading comprehension training study that included feedback on SRL and its results. We conclude by summarizng the important role of self regulation for reading comprehension for all students with and without learning difficulties.
