Abstract
Expands on M. Darley and R. H. Fazio's distinction between prophecy (PPY) confirmation and maintenance and questions one assumption underlying the PPY guided behaviors that are supposed to realize the PPY. Darley and Fazio fail to elaborate the point that what makes a PPY fulfill itself is not that it is false but that it leads to new behavior by the target person.
