Abstract
Correlation analysis of the sound field in an ocean waveguide is often applied to study both noise and coherent signals using single-hydrophone receivers or linear arrays. Based on such measurements, it is possible in principle to find dispersion dependences of waveguide modes and, accordingly, determine the waveguide parameters. This paper presents the results of a feasibility study, in which we modeled the cross-correlation function for two synchronized vertical arrays in a shallow waveguide with a layered bottom for a broadband signal from a moving source. We estimate the possibility of determining the parameters of the low-velocity layer considering the specific modal structure of the sound field in the corresponding waveguide.
