Abstract

This text focuses on the preceding chapter by IJdens and Lievens to frame reflections on some experts’ understandings of arts education around the world. It speculates on selected themes from the MONAES project findings: the notion of community, differences amongst experts, and challenges for arts education in the future. These reflections are proposed here as a means to navigate in the sea of information that was accumulated in two profound surveys. But first, a comment on the idea of comparison which is the essence of the MONAES project: understandings of arts education from a comparative perspective.
