Abstract

The development of psychology in Israel reflects its history as a settler-colonial society whose culture has been formed by waves of immigrants bringing with them technical knowledge and visions on the one hand, and economic growth on the other hand. Following a century of growth, both academic psychology and its attendant applied fields enjoy a position of strength and prestige, reflected in the demand for psychology as an academic field of study, and a parallel demand for psychological services, especially psychological treatment in its varieties. Professional standards are solid.
