Abstract

As part of a recent study of pithoi production technology in the Middle Bronze Age, analysis shows that pithoi from the Kabri Canaanite palace in Phases III-IV were locally produced from sediments found at the Ga'aton River that flows at the foot of the site. Varying technical abilities were applied to the local production of a wide range of tableware and storage containers. Imported wares are scarce. This study and previously analyzed results suggest a pottery production center at Kabri that supplied the local needs of its inhabitants.
