Abstract

A retrospective study was conducted to assess the outcome and to identify the characteristics and prognostic factors of penetrating ocular trauma in conditions of warfare. Primary visual acuity, location of wound, presence of intraocular foreign body, and presence of prolapsed ocular tissue were statistically associated with prognosis for final visual acuity. Twenty-four percent of injuries were bilateral, and 51% of patients were legally blind as a result of their injuries.
