Occupational benefits and costs of conducting psychotherapy: The case of school counselors

    Abstract

    This, was a two-staqualitative and quantitative starticipants were 137 school counselors in junior high schools in Israel. Data nalysis revealed five benefit factors (professional attributes, narcissistic gains, selfimprovement, improved their family, and social relationships) and four cost factors (some vocational attributes, psychological vulnerability, damage to family, and social relationships). Based on the relationship between benefit and ',cost scores, we three identified counselor profiles were found: rewarded, taxed, and least affected.
