Nonlinear mechanism for proton transfer in hydrogen-bonded solids

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

A one-dimensional model is proposed to describe a mechanism for proton transfer in crystals containing chains of hydrogen bonds. The ionic defect H3O+ is described as a kink excitation. It is shown that the solitonic mechanism can explain the measured high protonic mobility.
