Abstract
This article describes the process of developing a pioneering initial initiative to build a national student leadership work group by the nursing management division in the Ministry of Health. All nursing schools and faculties were invited to participate in the initiative (N = 28) and asked to identify leaders among nursing students. Of the 28 nursing schools and faculties approached, 10 participated in the initiative, with 60 identified as nursing student leaders representing a mix of nursing education institutions across Israel. The group comprised nursing students from diverse training tracks in various academic phases. This national initiative aims to engorge emerging leaders among nursing students, create a network among the students nationally and internationally, expose students to leadership activities in various training institutions, and expose students to key role positions. Preparing the future generation for the nursing profession and the challenging health care system is an endeavor.
