Abstract

In this chapter we describe two National Centers of Mathematics Teachers: The Primary School Teachers' Center and the Secondary School Teachers' Center. The centers are managed by a team from the Department of Mathematics Education in the University of Haifa and are monitored by the Israeli Ministry of Education. In line with their dual affiliation, the centers construct firm bridges between academic research in the field of mathematics education and pedagogical practice in schools across the country. We portray the structure and the activities which are central to the two centers and provide some examples of activities suggested by the centers.
