Abstract

Requirements Engineering (RE) practices involve various stakeholders and disciplines. In the context of developing a MESH (Municipal-Environmental-Social-Health) platform that aims to improve health outcomes, and in our research the prevention of type 2 diabetes by promoting healthy lifestyle and people's well-being, the RE process requires multifaceted considerations and stakeholders. The MESH platform exhibits the realization that ecological determinants coupled with the social determinants, which are the non-medical health factors that influence health outcomes and reflect the conditions in which people are born, grow, live, work and age impact health. The MESH comprehensive framework includes methods and tools for MESH platform development. The first phase of the on-going research is a collaborative transdisciplinary course of the design, engineering, and medicine faculties. Students from the different disciplines collaborated and implemented design thinking methodology to come up with innovative technological and design solutions for the MESH platform. In this vision paper we present the research and the RE processes that took place during the course and provide general guidelines for developing MESHs.
