Abstract
The geomorphic response to tectonic activity of the western edge of the Hula Valley was examined by morphometric analysis, geomorphologic mapping, and sedimentological tools. The values of the morphometric indices were found to be in accordance with the geological settings of the region. The area between Nahal Qadesh and Qiryat Shemona, facing deeper parts of the Hula depression, is characterized by morphometric indices typical of areas with high tectonic activity. Five generations of alluvial fan relicts are found up to 290 m above the Hula base level, displaying steep gradients (30%) eastward. The fan relicts may imply deposition under pulses of activity consequent to the subsidence of the Hula Valley. The morphometric indices obtained for the Kefar Gil'adi region reflect a different geological setting, apparently with relatively small vertical tectonic movements.
