Morphology of connective spines in diatom algae of the genus aulacoseira thwaites

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

A classification of the connective spines of colonial species of diatom algae Aulacoseira Thw. is proposed. Taxonomic significance of the connective spine structure is discussed in respect to the extant and fossil species of Aulacoseira. The material suggests an elaboration of the connective structures in the course of the evolution of the genus.
