Abstract
Hybrid steppermotors can be used in closed loop operation as a cheaper replacement of expensive servo motors. For controller design, a model is necessary that takes the special characteristics of hybrid stepper motors into account. A model is derived that accounts for the effects of the salient poles and important model parameters are calculated as least-squares optimal parameters. Validation experiments show the high accuracy of the model. The proposed model can be used to optimize the hybrid stepper motor's closed loop operation with respect to power losses and generated torque.
