Abstract

The problem of reconstruction of structures from data collected based on transmitted or emitted radiation occurs in a wide range of applications. This paper addresses the design and evaluation of those computer algorithms for solving the problem of reconstruction from projections which make use of a prior model of the ensemble from which the image which we wish to reconstruct is supposed to have been taken. We consider prior models which describe ensembles of images so that random samples from these ensembles will resemble images that are likely to occur in a specific application.
