Abstract

Based on the assumption that creativity can be developed, this chapter focuses on identifying learning conditions for promoting creativity for all children in the regular elementary school class. These learning conditions either involve special tasks or special teacher efforts (or both). We identify types and characteristics of good tasks and use them in analysing some examples. We discuss the crucial role of teachers exhibited in the nature of their actions and the nature of classroom norms. We conclude with someimplications on the role of teacher education and professional development in preparing teachers towards creating an environment that supports the development of all children.
