Lava caves and surface volcano karst features in the basaltic area of the Golan Heights ( Israel).

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

Caves are formed endogenically as lava tubes and exogenically by erosion of the interlayer lava flows; calcitic speleothems are found in the basaltic caves. Surface depressions may have been formed by collapsed cavities or by volcanic explosions. The drainage density is low and surface morphology locally resembles karst lapies fields.-Author
