Abstract

Publisher Summary This chapter describes Israel Exchange Format 1991 (IEF '91) standard. This standard provides specifications for data acquisition, organization of data, structure and format of digital mapping spatial data transfer, definition of features, definition of major attributes, and provision for secondary feature attributing. The standard was adopted by the Survey of Israel (in charge of the Israeli NDMDB (National Digital Mapping Data Base) for use in the acquisition and development of spatial data by government agencies and private photogrammetric companies involved in the Remapping of Israel Program launched in 1992. The objectives and scope of the standard are also explained in the chapter.
