Introducing a biopsychosocial approach in an oncology institute: A case study

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

This paper traces the process of introduction of change in the therapeutic approach to cancer at an oncological institute in Israel. Previously, the approach at the institute was purely biomedical. The change that was introduced was based on a biopsychosocial approach which encourages patients and their families to learn specific coping skills in parallel with medical treatment. The agent of change was the director of the Psychosocial Oncology Unit at the institute.
