Abstract

This chapter portrays how Israel’s maritime trade operates given its unique security problems, and the measures taken to secure the vital supply chain during peace and in times of hostilities. It focuses on the vital role of ports, shipping and intermodal transportation, securing the ports in Israel, and the threats to maritime transport and navigation to/from Israel and how to thwart them. It explores the maritime arena and Israeli National Doctrine, security models used, the Israeli Navy and its role in maritime security and freedom of navigation.
