Abstract

We treat the chirality of the macroscopic shape of crystals as a continuous structural property, rather than as an "either-or" property. An outline of the approach and a description of the methodology for carrying it out, are given and exemplified on ammonium sodium tartrate. The conceptual difficulties of applying chirality criteria to naturally occurring crystals are discussed.
