Abstract
We drew on the Knowledge Building Community (KBC) approach in an effort to advance the unique curricular goals of "Jewish-Israeli Culture Studies." Findings from the intervention stand to make qualitative contributions to existing literature on the design of KBCs, to the growing body of literature that has emerged as part of the "political turn" in the learning sciences, and to explorations of how identity and learning are inextricably tied. Further work on interdisciplinary learning at the K-12 level and on the creation and dissemination of teacher knowledge stands to advance cotemporary understandings of these fields.
