Abstract
Esterases of hybrids between different laboratory lines of Drosophila virilis were shown to be expressed codominantly by means of electrophoresis in starch and polyacryl gel. β Esterase had a dimer nature and, like its parental fractions, formed hybrids. Different degrees of expression of parental esterases were observed in interspecies hybrids D. virilis x D. texana and D. virilis x D. littoralis. Combined genetic and electrophoretic studies revealed the effect of chromosome 'medium' on the expression of different esterases.
