Abstract

This pilot study compares the physical, psychosocial and psychological problems-i.e., quality of life-of 59 elderly cancer patients with a control group of 59 elderly persons who did not have cancer and who functioned independently in daily activity. The cancer patients were being treated at an oncological medical center in northern Israel. Testing by means of the CARES and the SDS scales revealed that the quality-of-life problems of the elderly cancer patients was worse than that of the control group, although no statistically significant differences between the two groups were found in terms of depression.
