Abstract

Definitions: Digital health is a broad term and includes the use of digital, mobile, and wireless technologies to support the achievement of health objectives. In general, digital health describes the general use of information and communications technologies (ICT) for health and usually includes both electronic health (eHealth) and mobile health (mHealth) (World Health Organization 2016). In particular, mHealth involves the use of mobile phones, patient monitoring devices, personal digital assistants (PDAs), and wireless devices, for medical and public health practice (WHO Global Observatory for eHealth 2011) (see “Telehealth” and “Telemedicine”).
