Abstract
The article focuses on differential preemption and the interrelation between federal maritime law and state law. Information is provided on how preemption refers to the constitutional doctrine that sates that state and local authorities must defer to the federal government in various jurisdictions. It is noted that there must be a balance of federalism and state sovereignty.
