N2 - The research goal is to design an effective model to bring serious educational computer games to afterschool youth communities. This model, which we call the Cyberscouts model, suggests engaging teens in mentoring younger kids in playing virtual educational games. Following the design based research methodology, a pilot study of the proposed model was conducted and analyzed for the next iteration. We find that the teens' ability to view the process "like a 10 year old" had a strong impact on the refinement of the model. More confirming outcomes and challenging outcomes emerged towards the next iteration of the research.
