Abstract
The Adriatic network hosts an appreciable number of honorific and dedicatory inscriptions of several sailors, seafarers, and merchants, which form a valuable heritage for the study of ship’s provenance, shipowners, shipbuilders, crews, and mariners. This paper investigates the socio-economic role of seafarers, shipbuilders, and sailors operating across the Northern and Central Adriatic Sea (and beyond) during the Imperial period (1st c.-3rd c. a.d.).
