Abstract

The averaged intensity I(r) of the sound field in irregular underwater acoustic waveguides with absorbing boundaries is investigated within the framework of the ray theory. Analytical expressions are derived for I(r) in the cases of a shallow sea of variable depth and an irregular acoustic channel near the bottom. The results are compared with calculations based on mode summation.
