Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

The demographic changes and reality pose significant challenges to the social and health services. There are and will be more frail and disabled people, yet the ability of governments to provide care is constantly getting smaller. The aging population issue must be addressed also from a technological point of view. Gerontechnology can not only provide essential solutions to many of the aging problems and difficulties but also increase their quality of life and independence. Assistive technology is primarily designed to compensate possible deficits increasing the level of independency both indoor and outdoor. The aim of this article is to present some existing factors in the field of gerontechnology and to show its benefits and potentials.
