Abstract

The excavations were carried out at a site known as al-Nabi Hussein (map ref. NIG 1581-4/6187-9, OIG 1081-4/1187-9; Fig. 1). Three areas were excavated, exposing four burial arcosolia and a pit (Fig. 1). The tombs and fnds, dated to the third-ffth centuries CE, were part of a burial ground used by Ashqelon's inhabitants in the Late Roman period.
