Area J. Part V: Analyses of sediments from the level J-4 Temple floor

Abstract

Sediment samples were collected during the 2008 excavation season from within the Level J-4 temple (EB IB) in Area J for the purpose of material-identification. Specifically, we aimed at identifying the composition of the following features:1. The white coating of the interior faces of the temple’s walls2. The thin white layers found above the temple’s floor (Phase J-4a)3. The dark grey sediment patches found above the temple’s floor (Phase J-4a)4.
