This paper briefly analyses the results of a persistent attempt over the years to preserve the character of the historic city of Jerusalem, through regulated control of the building material and technology, since launching of the Stone regulation under the early British Mandate. It concentrates on the architectural aspects of application of chosen different technologies in buildings and their visual interrelationships.
