Abstract

Species diversity in the Agaricaceae (Basidiomycota) in Israel was evaluated. The Agaricaceae are represented in Israel by three tribes, the Agariceae, Lepioteae, and Leucocoprineae, and 11 genera. The presence of ninety-five Agaricaceae species and infraspecific taxa was revealed, of which 47 species belong to the Agariceae, 24 species to the Lepioteae, and 24 species to the Leucocoprineae. Out of these 95 species, 51 species were novel to Israel, 29 species were novel to Asia, and five species, were endemic to Israel. Four genera, Endoptychum, Chamaemyces, Cystolepiota, and Melanophyllum, were not known to be present in Israel before. A new species, Leucoagaricus longistipitatus M. Didukh, Wasser et Kosakyan sp. nov. (Agaricaceae), is hereby described.
