Abstract

In this brief essay, I discuss how the “group turn” is one way of exposing students to the rich experience of growing through reciprocal resonance, as well as the question of self-leading large groups. Authentic communication in groups furthers the elaboration of autonomy, dependency, and relations with both external as well as internal authority. Group work may also fill a general gap in the relational psychoanalytic approach.
