Abstract
As a result of the recent wave of over half a million immigrants from the former Soviet Union to Israel, a unique opportunity to conduct a large-scale study of the attitudes and achievements of immigrants studying at the tertiary level has presented itself. Our study was limited to students at Haifa University. A series of questionnaires probing the students’ language use and attitudes were administered in order to provide a general description of their linguistic profile in first, second and third languages.
