Abstract
Lacydon, currently known as the Old Port of Marseilles, is a deep estuary oriented east-west. This article reports on the history occupation of the surrounding land in the light of the results of archaeological excavations undertaken in recent years. Information is presented for the two main excavations. The date 1990-1730 BC represents the transition from a natural environment on the north bank to one affected by human occupation. The date 600 BC was a time of profound change in territorial organization, with a much more intensive use of land resources in the area.
