Abstract
משלחת החפירות של אוניברסיטת בר-אילן חפרה עד כה במשך שתי עונות בתל עיטון שבמזרח השפלה. רוב החוקרים משערים שבתל שכנה עגלון המקראית. החפירות טרם הוכיחו זאת בוודאות, אך כבר עכשיו מתברר שבתל אכן שכנה בתקופה זו עיר גדולה וחשובה.
